A Lit Mag Love Workshop

This is an online workshop for writers who want to improve and publish their writing. Learn how lit mags work in a writer's journey to publication, with examples from writers who got their starts by publishing in lit mags. The workshop draws inspiration from the editors who produce lit mags and answers the question, Why Submit to Lit Mags? with best practices for submitting.

  1. YOUR INSTRUCTOR

I’m Rachel Thompson, founder of Lit Mag Love, a literary magazine editor, and a published author, and host of the Lit Mag Love Podcast, where I have interviewed numerous editors about submissions to their journals. I help writers make their most luminous words shine with courses on revision, getting published, and promotion for writers.

Why Lit Mags? How do they work? How do I publish in journals? (And why should I do it?)

After The Workshop You Will...

  • Understand how lit mags can help you achieve your writing goals.
  • Know what every editor learns after reading submissions.
  • Learn how to draw active inspiration from lit mags.
  • check
Have a list of places to submit your writing.

PRAISE FOR Rachel's TEACHING

Lit Mag Love taught me to be more professional in terms of the writing practice. Getting published isn't just throwing your work into the dark. You have to be strategic about it. I really liked that Lit Mag Love broke it down into specific goals.

ANGELA WRIGHT

I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to publish in literary magazines, but really any writer who is interested in joining a community and honing their craft.

HEATHER RINGO

Rachel deeply cares about helping emerging and established writers. She believes in building and cultivating writing communities—spaces for writers to meet, share work, get feedback, and grow.

Marlena Chertock

Doing this with a group made it "fun" in a way and it didn't feel as if I were drudging along in my "room of one's own."
